The Film Student, a television series documenting the trials and tribulations of students taking Produce & Direct Your Own Short Film through Continuing Education at George Brown College, has returned to the airwaves. The second season of the Rogers TV show debuted on Monday, September 14, 2009 – and audiences were introduced to a new cast of filmmakers.

“It’s a diverse group,” says instructor Yale Massey, who also serves as one of the show’s creators. “The students come from all walks of life.”

Massey’s brother Hart, who starred in the Rogers hit Hart of the Annex, acts as the show’s host – and joins the students as they move from script to finished product. It’s his job to bring out some of the light-hearted aspects of the journey.

From pre-production to lighting, shooting, editing and marketing, the class is definitely a hands-on experience for the prospective filmmakers – but an experience that none of the participants will forget. With help from industry professionals, watch as each student completes his or her film and celebrates the achievement.
